Her Story
Sarah incorporates a strengths based, person-centered approach to support the individualized needs of each client. She has a unique skillset due to her extensive experience in the public school system and private practice settings. As a school counselor and mental health interventionist, Sarah collaborated with families and community agencies to overcome systemic barriers to mental health. She utilizes these experiences to help families overcome obstacles and alleviate systemic barriers, especially within the BIPOC community.
In therapy, Sarah's primary focus is providing tools to alleviate maladaptive behaviors and better cope with life stressors for both children and adults. She has extensive training and a passion for working with children from toddlerhood to young adulthood, especially those who have a history of trauma. Sarah enjoys helping children, teens, and young adults develop the tools to advocate for their needs, recognize their own personal strengths, and increase their confidence and self-efficacy. She also has a strong personal connection and dedication to supporting women with fertility complications, perinatal mood disorders, and challenges in motherhood. As a therapist, she acknowledges how intersectionalities can impact the therapeutic relationship and recognizes her own biases in order to better serve her clients.
As a mother of two, Sarah empathizes with the challenges that arise in varying family dynamics and understands the importance of supporting the entire family unit. Due to her own experience, Sarah understands the crucial role guardians play in the therapeutic process and the stress parents endure when their children are struggling.
Outside of work, Sarah loves spending time with her husband, two children, and their three dogs. She also enjoys riding horses, reading books, traveling to new places, playing outside with her kids, and attending professional development opportunities.
